Teaching the Money Value to Kids, Why not?

As parents, you have made a great decision by teaching the money value to your kids. You should start earlier because it will give your children strong foundation for their future. At the beginning, you can show them various kinds of money you have, the coin and the paper ones. Show them the value and basic function of the money. You need to talk in warm circumstance that all items they have are bought with money. Of course, your kids do not understand about the works of the financial system. So, explain them about the simple thing that your kids will understand. Make sure you put earning, saving, spending, and investing as the topics. There is no need to be hurry and let your kids comprehend each detail on their way.

If you plan to go to the grocery, ask your kids to discuss what to buy and how much money you have. Show your kids that you cannot purchase a lot of chocolate bars because you need to buy fruits, vegetables, and others.   This is the real example about the way to spend the money and at the same time you give the lesson about spending for the important items. Once they can understand it, you have done one of the home education points. In another occasion, you may take them to the bank and show the activities there. The third or fourth grades children can be asked to discuss about the bills and balancing a checkbook. If you think they are ready to manage their money, you can continue to educate your children by giving some money. Guide them on using it properly. What you have done today is the essential foundation for their future.
